She has donated one of each books to the Glen Carbon Library (Glen Carbon, IL), the Edwardsville Public Library (Edwardsville, IL) and the Latzer Memorial Library (Highland, IL). The books are available at Piece of Mind Books in Edwardsville, but Lynnette wanted all children and parents to have access to the delightful watercolor illustrations and the educational tool. On October 24, 2004, Lynnette held her first book signing at the Piece of Mind Books in the Montclaire Shopping Center, Edwardsville, Illinois, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. The unique part of both books is the page dedicated to the parents. It will help them use the books in the most educational way possible. The books offer simple suggestions to parents, questions to help the child interact with the parents, and a list of skills that will help parents understand the value of reading with the child from the day he/she is born. Froggy Hollow is a delightful book for ages 0-7 years, helping children learn to count while having fun. Not only does it focus on math skills, such as rote counting, one to one consideration, the concepts of large/small, big/bigger, and high/low, but also places the numbers like the face of a clock, to familiarize children with counting in a clockwise motion. The book also uses rhyming, which leads to phonemic awareness, and the book can be used for vocabulary enrichment and the development of the child’s imagination. Shhhh!!! is for ages 0-7 years. Its focus is on repetition of words and phrases in a rhythmic pattern that makes learning to read easy and fun. The rhyming phrases lead to phonemic awareness and vocabulary enrichment. It also gives practice saying one of the more difficult sounds, “sh”, for children to say. Colorful pictures allow for the development of the child’s imagination. Concepts of large/small, big/bigger, and high/low, colors and shapes are included as additional educational experiences. Froggy Hollow and Shhhh!!! can both be used as a springboard for other educational experiences. Lynnette is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, Reflexologist, and Certified Unified Field Therapy Practitioner. Her office is at 217 Suppiger Lane, Highland, Illinois. She credits her recent flow of creativity to continued work with Unified Field Therapy. For more information or to make an appointment for massage or Unified Field Therapy, call her at 618-558-0054.
